Day 1 of vacation

While on vacation which was a blast. We started out at the Miami zoo. It was so much fun. We rented a 4 wheel bike and pedaled our butts all round it. Which was a good idea because I don't think I could have walk it. Dang thing was so long.
Most of the animals are not in bars, which made it so much fun to look at and get great pictures.
It look like it was going to rain but the sun came out so all in all turned out GREAT.
We rode the bike for 2.5 hours. So when we were getting close to the time we all had to pedal faster and we all got to laughing so hard I'm not sure how we made it.
I got so close to an elephant I couldn't believe it. Just a ditch that goes all the way around from them getting out. I never new that zoo's were like that. Our zoo has them all penned up.

After the zoo we check into a hotel and then up for breakfast bagel and pop LOL. Then off to turn in the rental car and wait for the shuttle to take us to the port.

SNOW SNOW SNOW

Ok kids get the snow suit on and lets go make snow angels cause that is the only thing snow is good for.

I hate to drive in it and have done it for more years then I like to count and still hate it. I don't shovel to old for that crap, if you can't get in the don't go out in it LOL.

Good thing is two more weeks and I'm on vacation and out of here to 85 degree weather YES :)

Also Spring is almost here :)

I just made a video

I just made a video some of the etsy items in my shop and I put music to it. It was so cool and easy to make.

The figure 8

Well been super busy so didn't post a new blog post in a long time. Been going to school in hopes to find a new job next spring. With any luck the job market around here will be better. But enough of that and on to the good stuff.

My son in law was in his first figure 8 and we all had a blast. The video is of the 2nd heat which you get to go into if your car still runs after the first heat and didn't win. I think the first time he came in 4th and the 2nd time came in 4 or fifth. Its so hard to keep track when trying to film and scream at the same time LOL. This video my husband took with our camera. I had the video camera which we don't have that load on the computer yet. But then with all the screaming and shaking I'm not sure it came out to good LOL.

The car will be in next years figure 8 because the engine is still good and so is the car.

One car their has been in for 7 years and man it look like it. The back end was so smashed you couldn't even tell what kind of car it was but it moved fast around the track and thats all that counts. I think the guy told Mike it use to be a cadillac. It look like a gremlin LOL.

I'll try to remember to blog more but don't count on it not much of a chatter box to remember to blog.

Been a While

Dang it has been a while posting on my blog.

So to make is short and sweet because so much has gone on and I won't have that much room LOL>

Went to the Bahamas yeap and had a blast even if it was COLD. I couldn't believe how cold it was. Sweat shirt all the time but did get in the water anyway. Now to get the pictures developed of the fish.
Road on segways dang that was so much. Wish I could buy one of those but you can't put them on the road so it wouldn't do me any good to have one. Put it in my car get it out in town run it around, heck might as well walk better for me.

Now its all most time to start my classes. Oh and just so you know I'm not looking forward to it either. I'm 54 done the college thing years back and now have to do it again. But at least I don't have to pay for it living in Michigan the have the no worker left behind and thats just what I am.
But will muck my way through it at least till I can find a job.

Well have to run and pick up the daughter from work. See ya on my next post.

As parents and concerned citizens I’m sure most of us at one time or another have been confronted with the question of lead poisoning. They're banning toys, taking books from schools and libraries, hurting low income families, killing entrepreneurial spirit and risking putting the economy in an even greater depression than we've seen in decades. I'd like to introduce you to their solution: the CPSIA.

Do you know about the CPSIA? No? Then I ask you to take a few minutes to find out about it.

The CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new set of laws that will come into effect on 10 February, 2009 and will impact many, many people in a negative way. Make no mistake, this is very real. View it for yourself. If Forbes, the American Library Association and numerous other media are paying attention, perhaps you should too.

How will these new laws affect you? Well, here are a few examples:

To the Parents of Young Students:
Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.

To the Avid Reader:
Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.

To the Lover of All Things Handmade:
Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.

To the Environmentalist:
Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.

To the Second-Hand Shopper:
Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.

To the Entrepreneur:
Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.

To the Antique Toy Collector:
Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123189645948879745.html

To the American Economy:
Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.

To the Worldwide Economy:
Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses.

I'm in my local paper

My local paper put an article about my etsy shop in the paper about having to close down my kids section. The lead law is what brought my shop to their attention.

She even put in a link to my shop. That is so cool. I hope a lot of people read the article plus vist my shop.

This is the first time I have ever been in the paper and thank God it was for something about what I do and not about something bad LOL>

Oh the Holidays

Can't say that they were bad cause we got a Wii and had and having a ton of fun with guitar hero.
Can't wait to save up for the drum set we will ROCK well ok it sounds good LOL.

The crappy part of my holidays was all the water. Had a lot of water last spring so much I thought we were going to float away. So I decided its time to take care of it. So off to the store to buy tile for the yard 300ft of it. Your thoughts of expensive is right.

The son in law thank God knows who to run machines that can dig up your yard so saved on that just had to pay for renting the machine.

After two days of digging and then putting a hole in the foundation so the water has some place to go which now goes in the tile out in the yard all the way down to the so called ditch in my front yard. With any luck those tiles should take care of all the water I get in the side yard. We did figure out that some place their are broken tile and that's why my yard floods. This probably happen about 6 years back when they redid the road and covered up the tiles. That's how long my yard has been flooding. You might say I'm a little slow LOL.

Anyway after fixing that we found that the pipe from the front bathroom broke that went to the septic tank. CRAP is right LOL. This happen because of all the water and it moved my foundation wall which landed on the pipe.

Well that is now fix and with any luck again I won't have all that water going into my septic tank that was coming from under the house. We don't use that bathroom that much because I have to replace part of the floor what has rotted out because of water damage and haven't had the money to do that yet. Next on the list I thing. The list that just keep growing LOL.

Yeap its been a fun holiday NOT LOL but at least its done and we won't be swimming this spring.

My kids corner on SALE

Well decided I better close my kids corner section in my shop before Feb 2009 so I have slashed all the prices so they will move fast. Which has work all ready sold some so better get what you want fast before they are all gone.

How sad to think that they might put lead in material.

So will have some free time on my hands so will have to find another cool project to work on.

My daughters shop on etsy

Yeap my daughter finally open a shop on etsy. I'm so excited that she has join that great group of people that hang out at etsy.

So many fine hand crafted items.

Right now she is doing soy tarts and small thank you cards. But more will come.

My Zipper Wallets

Well its a great day when you have a special order for one of your items you make and they are going to a B&M place in Maine.

She ordered 24 of my large zipper wallets and I got them done way before I had quoted but then when you don't have a job anymore you have loads of time to get things like that done.

Anyway I listed them last night and she bought them this morning. I will be shipping them out in the morning cause the mail has all ready came here and can't get back into town to the post office.

I'm so excited I just had to blog about it plus post the pictures of the ones I made for her.

I hope I get to do it again. My family will enjoy it tons cause they get to eat all the stuff I had to empty in zip lock bags so I could have the labels. So now I have everyone I know saving bags of stuff so I can cut up the labels and use them the next time I get a big order. My family can only eat so much plus my counter can only hold so much LOL.

Yeap its a great day tater I'm still on cloud 9. Its just as much fun as when I won the sneak attack on this thread . Every Wed. a store is pick and anyone that wants to play buys just from that shop. It was the most I had ever sold in one shot and was up till 1am getting everything packaged up and ship out. Couldn't sleep anyway cause of being so excited LOL.

My Stash of Scarves

Yeap I was looking for something else and came upon a bag of scarves I knitted a while ago when I was putting them in a shop in my home town and these never sold before I pulled out of the shop.

So I have now started to list them in my etsy shop.

This will be a short blog today cause Ellen is on and I have to watch her.

Its a GREAT day

Why you ask cause its my Birthday LOL. To old to tell you what my age its but let just say I'm over 50.

So went out for breakfast with my daughter and her husband then went and got a load of stone for the drive way. Sounds like fine LOL well at least I don't have to put it in the drive. The boys are doing that for me.

Later this afternoon will be going to my mom's for a birthday dinner. My bother and sister and their family will be their to enjoy mom's Great ribs.

My son even called me yesterday. I think he thinks my birthday is the 7th LOL. That's ok at least he called. He lives in NC so don't get to see him anymore.

It is so cold here with the wind blowing and they are talking snow showers but it won't stick cause the ground is to warm yet. Thank God for that.

I'm voting when my daughter gets home from work. She doesn't want to go by herself so I'll wait for her.

Did list some new items in my etsy shop. Its a purse organizer . I use them and just love it.

Plus been super busy with the truck load of corn we got out of the field that was cool. Driving up to the corn picker and have it empty a ton of corn really a ton of corn in my son in laws pick up. Yeah his truck can hold it LOL.

Built a box to store it in then had to run it all through a screen to get the red dog that's what they call the red stuff that flies in the air and reminds me of fish scales and other stuff you don't want burning in your corn burner. Took about 2 hours to get that unloaded. But its done and should have enough corn stored for about 3 months now. Then I get to do it all again joy joyLOL.

Plus help my son in law dry wall their barn/house because I felt bad that he help me so much over the weekend and didn't get anything done in their. I told them I would help hang the dry wall. Thank God its not a very big place LOL. We did get the kitchen done which runs into their living room and got most of that done. Now just have to finish around the stairs and then go up into the loft bedroom and drywall that. That I hope won't take to long even though a lot of stuff is still being stored in their so have to move that all out and put is some place. That's the kicker putting all that stuff some place LOL.

Will be busy again. Dang I have to find a job so I can rest.

I just join this really cool site called weloveetsy. I even have friends all ready LOL.
I haven't look all over the site yet but what I have done so far I love it.
I'm going to try and put my slide show on here to see how it looks so I hope it works.

Coyote

The son in law was going in the corn field behind the house with a bucket and its pitch dark mind you. Three rows in and I hear this bang (thinking what the hell was that) next I see him running grabbing the the big poll in the yard swing around that falling grabbing the pool solar cover rail falling trying to get up trying to say something and nothing is coming out of his mouth falling again finally makes it to me and tells me to get in their barn house and finally he tells me him and coyote were face to face.
It was price less now that its all over and nothing happen. His eyes were HUGE and he couldn't run cause he kept falling trying to get up fall get up trying to run.
OMG I'm still laughing about it.
We have about five of them right now but I heard their are about 20 around here in a pack.

The other morning at 4:30 they wake me up cause the killed something cross the street and they had to let everyone know. Man that was scary. They are getting way to close to the house.
